Warby Weekend!

What a sensational weekend!! I also discovered that I don't really like riding JT anymore and I think JT could sense this by bucking me off at one of the gates where we had to put a foot down to help get through them - the result was very good bruises, a jarred knee and a sore left ankle :(

We soon got to the first stop at the old Woori Yallock station, 15-16km's into the ride and the ute was opened up with all the eski's inside where several of us partook in a beer or two. Keeping in mind, which Heather helped me remember, my early start on the Friday of the HHCCC I only had the one beer and Heather drank, I mean inhaled, her crownie in about 2 minutes I reckon! I still can't believe she drank the one she put in her bidon holder after crossing _that_ bumpy bridge! The food at this stop, and indeed for the whole weekend, was sensational! Awesome (and massive amounts) of very very nice cheese, breads, biscuits and sausage/salami! I don't think I want to eat a soft cheese again for a month! Naturally, there was also picking on Heather about her height.

After a bit, we then headed to the next stop 5-6km's down the road, along the way we came across some cows which I know would have made Heather and Karen’s day. We also saw some sheep and some little lamb’s but I didn’t get the camera out in time and I couldn’t stop cos there was a pub waiting for us, the Launching Place Home Hotel! This was the official lunch stop but no one was all that hungry, but a few wedges were consumed and a few more beers but we all pretty much decided that we would eat later. An hour or more later we decided that we should push on.

The next planned stop was again another 5-6km’s or so down the road, but with a 1km detour from the trail. As team HAF were taking too long to leave the lunch stop, the majority of people headed off to Warby and missed the stop at the Sam Knott Hotel near the old Wesburn station. We got to the Sam Knott and it was just myself and Team HAF having a nice quiet ale. A second round was decided upon before we thought we best make a move to Warby and re-group with the others. When we got out the front of the pub Oz had a flat rear tyre – Bugger, so more beer was had while Oz changed his flat. After trying unsuccessfully to use a CO2 cartridge the tyre was finally pumped up and then about to head off again, when Oz discovered his front tyre was also flat – odd! We decided that someone may have just let his tyres down (maybe it was Michael??) so we pumped it up and we were finally onto the last leg of the ride to Warby.

Once we got to the caravan park, I had a quick shower, and headed off to find everyone. I soon found Team Idiot in one of their cabins having a drink or several and then found Team HAF HQ and the cheese n salami for some more pre-dinner drinks and nibblies.

At 5:30pm it was so dark we all thought it was dinner time, but that was another 2 hrs away so we just kept drinking in the cabins for a while longer before we headed out for the walk to the pub for dinner.

Walking to the pub was made interesting by Mrs G randomly shouting out alternatives to HAF, so DAF (Drunk As F$#%), PAF (Pissed as F$%@) etc but there was an incident along the way with some red wine and the medic was called but it was too late, it was gone and wasted (and so was Dale!)

At the pub some food was had as well as some more red wine and beer. There were lots of photo’s taken of everyone and some were clowning around while others were just doing what they were told to do. There was a lot of shy people during the evening at the pub who were just sitting back all quiet and reserved. Unfortunately, Michael kept spilling more and more wine, which Oz was happy to try and save by soaking it up with a napkin and squeeze back into his wine glass but some of it was unable to be retrieved.
As the night progressed some songs were sung and some looked a bit tired but then came back to life!

Unfortunately I wasn’t witness to the interesting methods that some people tried to use to get other people back to the caravan park, but it may have something to do with one of these and this person after too many of these in a shot glass, a good thing the police came past and put and end to that!

The next morning there were quite a few sore heads and a few parts of the night missing for some, but a great night was had by all!

Sunday started with a pootle into town for brekky and then the final stretch back to Cogs Café for a regroup and a cheerio!

A massive thanks goes out to the support crew of Mrs G, Mrs Oz and Dragon Lady with Matilda - what a top weekend away!
