What a messed up week and next week is only going to be much of the same. On Tuesday, during the PCI of my house (inspection to point out defects) I got a phone call from my sister to say that there had been a big truck accident on the Prices Fwy that morning and that the driver that died was a long time family friend of ours, Woody. I've known Woody since I was about 12 or so (over half my life), he was like an older brother and before getting back in contact with my Dad, if I was ever to get married I was going to ask him to give me away as he was the one constant male in my life that meant something to me.
The truck he was driving hit the back of a truck that was parked in the emergency lane of the Princes Fwy where he had stopped to have a rest. They suspect he fell asleep at the wheel I've heard that an eye witness said that they saw the truck veering off the road and that there were no skid marks from breaking. Footage of the cab of the truck is evidently pretty horrific in that there is not much of it left. He died before emergency services got to the scene. Thankfully I haven't seen the footage, I really don't want to see it when I know the person that had been in there.
The funeral is going to be on Tuesday. The same day that I get the keys to my beautiful new house - what a messed up day that's going to be. Thankfully I am not moving in until Wednesday.
Stephen Woodhouse leaves behind wife Tanya and sons Trent and Hayden. Gone far too early and impacted so many lives in so many ways. You will be missed!
