This is going to sound a bit strange but... I don't know what to cook for people if they come over for a meal. Yeah, I know that sounds odd, especially considering the amount of cooking I do, but I'm seriously unsure. Do you go fancy, do you go meat and veg, do you do just normal everyday food?? Is spag bol a crap idea? What about spaghetti and meatballs and then if I do something like that should I then provide a salad or something else too? Pasta is normally a good safe meal to cook. If I have the time then I can always do a roast, but the pressure of getting it cooked just right when it's for other people could be a lot.
I generally eat pretty basic foods and if I have pasta then it's only the pasta dish and nothing on the side. A lot of the time I just eat pan fried meat and 4-5 veg.
I tried working out this morning when the last time I cooked a meal that was for more than just me and I honestly don't know when it was.... I'm talking many years.
Once I get the BBQ out that will make things lots easier, but yeah I was just thinking that if I invite family over for some dinner - what do I actually cook for them?

L, There's nothing wrong with a good Spag-bol. Make some fresh garlic bread to go with it and a simple bowl of salad. My side salad would normally inlude Lettuce, some sundried/cherry tomatoes, grate up some carrot, dice up some nice ripe advocado and dress with some balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Too easy! :-)
Thanks Anon, so true! I think when you aren't used to it you worry a bit, but it's really not that big a deal at the end of the day - the company is the key :D
