Well it's been a while, but most thoughts have been towards anything to do with my house! (It still feels weird saying that) I still can't believe that I (semi) own a block of land - it's just so strange! Imagine once the house has started being built, it will be very very bizarre and yet soooooooooooo unreal! :D Every day I still have moments when I think to myself "wow, I'm building a house!" and then smile this goofy smile out of happyness :)
A lot has been happening but I jsut haven't been updating.
Dad and Maureen head to New Zealand tomorrow for three weeks - 3 whole weeks! It's amazing, it willbe great for them and I really hope they don't have an argument heh ;) I took Maus to the colours place on the weekend and as a result I changed my selection and I happy about it! More nuetral in colour and much better. I value her opinion so much! I'm really going to miss them both for the next 3 weeks! The best thing about building where I am is that I am going to be near them, and I am really going to love it :D Having a family around me that cares, its going to be great! :) I'm really looking forward to it.
Once time has past it seems so fast, but at the time it goes so slowly

Time
I think that the pulling of the finger out is really about to happen and things will start to get happening again... they have to get happening again for many many reasons!

I'm not sure how much more of the fire coverage I can watch or read... It is just so tragic and I keep getting teary about it all. It's just so sad and it's not over...

Victorian Fires
All these images I am seeing on the news of the fires, its just unbelievable. Yesterday when I was up at Mernda I could smell the smoke and see all the plumes of smoke and again, these images are just unbelievable. Kinglake is gone, Marysville is gone - it's just so shocking and scary and sad, very very sad. There are 50 people confirmed dead and that doesn't include anyone in Marysville.
My block of land isn't far from Whittlesea (5-10 mins drive) and it's really brought home to me that I will need a fire plan once I am there, especially if a fire gets into the Plenty Gorge.
It is all just so devastating and it's still going - they are still burning and there is still major danger. Just because it isn't a 46+ degree day anymore, doesn't mean the danger is gone.

What a day!
So since I put a holding deposit down on the land, I've had a number of moments where I was thinking 'Oh shit, what have I done?!?!' and generally panicking/stressing about it all but it has all turned out ok.
I also saw another mortgage broker and it turns out that if you have a signed house contract before your land settles (rare) then you can get your government grants at land settlement! Awesome! All we then needed was for Stockland head office to agree to a later settlement with a 60 day finance clause... And they did! Woohoo!!
I am meeting a solicitor on Friday to go over the land contracts and then on Saturday I will go to the land office and sign the land contracts. I am also meeting the mortgage broker on Saturday to put in the application for pre-approval for the home loan. Once I have the pre-approval I can then start on the building contracts which can take 5-8 weeks to bed down between electrical plan appointments, colour appointments and tile appointments it all takes a bit of time.
I also found out today that everything at work that I have been waiting on has been discussed, agreed to and I am happy enough with the outcome.
I might start a new blog for my house building

I've started!
So today I went for a drive out to the area that I plan to build and I ended up putting a holding deposit on some land! Yes, I now have land! How scary is that? Well let me tell you, VERY! It's going to be a house and land deal with the builder but I still need to buy the land separately, they just have that blocked ear marked for them. It is a 14m by 32m block which is what I wanted and the orientation that I wanted too.
OMG, I have land!
So this week I need to go over the contracts and everything and then go back next week to sign them and pay the rest of the deposit. OMG, I have land!
I got sooooooo nervous when it came time to actually say yes and do it and then put the money down! OMG I HAVE LAND!!
This is the biggest most important thing I think I have ever done financially and lifestyle wise or in fact ever really and I'm doing it all alone which also adds some stress.
Of course it is all subject to finance, so I can pull out any time I want to if I start to panic.
Once it's all signed and everything I will start a blog for it all
OMG I HAVE LAND! -breathes deeply-
These are taken on my phone:
My driveway - the rear of the block faces north which makes the yard North West which is what I wanted

The block is 3 houses from the corner of a street that runs along these trees and these trees will be staying as they are on land that the developers don't own - I really like these trees!

More of the trees, taken from my driveway:

And again the block:

OMG, I have land!! I still can't believe it!
