It's been a while since my last update, I spose all my energy has been going into my house. Everything has been decided with the house and it's all with the bank waiting for them to do their valuation on if they will now actually give me the cash - how nerve wracking!
On Friday I had the worst hayfever I have had in years. It pretty much left me unable to do anything at all... I was so wiped out and zonked by it that it was rediculous - it really wasn't much fun at all.
Thursday I went for a bike ride to the shops, my first ride all year! Scary but true. Sure it was only about 4km round trip but it was an important turn of the pedals.
I'm currently watching 60 minutes and its a story about females who have a rogue breast cancer gene that means they have a chance of getting breast cancer and so they are having them removed. I'm not so sure I could do that. My Grandma on my mum's side had a double mastectomy AND a hysterectomy and I have personally had a pre-cancerous lump removed from my bowel, but I'm not sure I could do what these women are doing. Maybe if my Mum gets diagnosed with it then I might think differently having had it come through two generations.
I know that I have the cells/genes/whatever for bowel cancer - by pure chance they found a 4mm lump in my bowel 4 or 5 years ago which was removed and when tested, it came up positive for cells that would turn into cancer!. I do try not to think about the fact, but it is why I take daily fibre supplements and get checked every 3 years.

Weird reaction
Yesterday I had someone ask me if I work or not and then asked what it was that I do, when I told them they almost refused to believe me. I'm not sure why they found it hard to believe, but their stunned reaction was quiet amazing. I don't know if it's because they assumed I didn't work or if they thought it was the kind of job I couldn't do or what... anyway, it was really odd!

Tomatoes anyone?
Today I've started the second course of antibiotics for my sinuses. I am feeling a lot better, but I'm still getting popping ears and occasionally losing the sensation of which way is up so I figure I may as well continue with the drugs seeing as I was given a repeat for them. Thankfully the pain in my upper jaw has not returned - I never want to experience that ever again!
I have a sore back :( I think (hope) it's just a pinched nerve in my lower right back/hip area, but it's still sore and painful. I spent about 20-30 minutes yesterday massaging the whole area with my spikey physio ball and then applied an ice pack for 20-30 minutes and also took some nurofen plus. I think it has helped, but today it is still quite sore and the pain is still there but it isn't sharp stabbing pain like yesterday... It had better just be a pinched nerve, I haven't done anything to cause my back to flare up. I also went for a gentle 20 minute walk this morning - so lets hope with stretching etc it settles down because I really couldn't handle it being anything more than that.
Yesterday when I was watering my tomato plants, I decided to count how many there were - well over 30 and even more flowers still!! Gee I'm going to have a lot of tomatoes soon. I also noticed that my strawberry plant is growing strawberry's! Amazing, they have just taken off since the heat and have almost tripled in size in the space of 4-6 weeks.

Sinusitus can be really painful :(
Last night I was in so much pain I considered going to the hospital if the panadeine didn't kick in soon. I was also in a lot of pain yesterday afternoon, but it got worse and worse as the night went on and each time the pain drugs wore off, it just became so bad and almost unbearable.
I'm currently on antibiotics for my sinuses, they have been playing up for several weeks and I finally went to the Dr's about it. Yesterday morning I woke up with a sore upper left jaw, along the bone line. During the day it progressively got worse and by 1am it was beyond tolerable. Laying in bed and waiting for the pain medication to kick in was just awful and I did contemplate calling an ambulance, but I figured I should wait long enough for the drugs I had already taken to kick in and thankfully they did after about an hour, but it was an extremely awful hour.
I know it was related to my sinuses as when I moved from side to side or moved my head, the pain moved and changed AND today I woke up with no pain in my upper left jaw - so bizarre!
I see it as a sign that the drugs are actually working, I just hope that if there is a next time then it doesn't do it in this way!

No sleep
Last night I managed a whopping 3 hrs sleep! 3 hours!! bloody hell! I am not the kind of person that does well on less than 6 hrs sleep, I get grumpy and moody and I just really suffer, well so far today I'm doing fine! After laying in bed for 3hrs I decided to try some panadeine... after an hour doing some reading I was still awake. By 1:30 - 2am I had to get out of bed as my back was getting sore from laying there so long awake. I got up and did some things and then went back to bed and decided to put on a stage of last years TDF and set my TV timer for 90 mintues. I managed to watch about 30 minutes and then fell asleep and woke up again with 5 minutes on the timer - woohoo 1 hr of sleep and it's now about 4/4:30am! Re-set the timer again for another 90 minutes and fell asleep about 20 minutes later... and then woke up to my alarm at 6:15am.
Tonight I am giving up my no drinking on a school night and having a few glasses of wine as tomorrow is already going to be difficult with the lack of sleep, I don't need another night of it.
In other news, I had my colours and electricals appointments today!!!

The Earth Moved
OMG at about 8:57pm this evening I literally felt the earth move as did all of Melbourne - My gawd and earthquake in Melbourne!!
I was sitting in my recliner, in the reclined position and felt my chair move from side to side and then I heard all the windows rattling and things in the house rattling and then it all just stopped - seriously freaky!
I've since learned that it wasn't just me that felt it, nor was it caused by the red wine I'm drinking, but it was felt all across Melbourne to Frankston, Berwick and even Gippsland!!

Sinusitus is not fun
With all this smoky haze that's been in the air around good old Melbourne town my lung have been suffering a bit, but I've managed to keep it mostly under control and being careful like not going for walks when it's really bad etc. However the last few days I've noticed my sinuses have started to get a bit funky and with the extreme wind and smoke on Tuesday they went past that line and started causing a lot of pain :( I spent today at home with a nose spray and some drugs from the chemist to try to calm it all down. The painkillers in the drugs seem to do help a little bit, but the pharmacist did say to make sure I take all 3 doses each day for a few days - I must stick with it, a bit like making sure you take the full course of antibiotics when prescribed. I'm a bit worried about the night time dose though, it has histamine in it to help me sleep to counteract the pseudoephedrine but I'm really not sure if it's going to work considering as how sensitive I am to it the stuff.
I have to go to work tomorrow morning for meetings, I hope it improves though so I can be at work for the full day. Now it's been raining though at least the smoky haze has gone away.

I will do it
I had a pretty good week last week with trying to stay focused and being healthy... then came the weekend -oops- But I am making progress. I tested my hip a bit by doing two walks in the one day, one slower/normal pace and the other faster and longer and it is holding up alright! I'm actually able to build up a sweat now w/out my hip suffering for it. I have really tried to focus on keeping the right muscles engaged while walking which has obviously helped. I also haven't been to a pilates class or seen the physio at all this year so what I am doing is working. I am still using my physio ball every couple of days to massage my lower back and hip, but the tension just doesn't seem to be building up much YAY!! Basically what this means is that I can now just go for it!!! When I decide to do something, I do it and over the past 12-18 months, not being able to do a heap of fast paced walking to stay fit and now to lose weight has been extremely frustrating, but now I can! :D Of course I am going to still have to be careful and not over do it, but I can at least do more than I've recently been able to which is fantastic! Now once all this smoky haze and heat dissapears I will start riding my bike... at first it will be riding to the shops and also on the trainer to just get some kind of base fitness.
I also came to a realisation the other day in regards to my cycling.... I am now wanting to be on the bike again :D Also, they say that you make the most improvements in your first 12-18 months of cycling and then it level's out... well I figure I'm back to the start so I need to make sure that the next 12-24 months really count!
Not much else is news, I got to work this morning at 6:45am for a 7am meeting. We arranged it on Friday, yet the other person hasn't turned up - not very impressed by that as it meant I didn't get to do my walk this morning for nothing :( I did however bring my sneakers to work so I can go for a walk at lunch time instead. Oh and it was still dark at 6:45am when I got to work!!
