What a messed up week and next week is only going to be much of the same. On Tuesday, during the PCI of my house (inspection to point out defects) I got a phone call from my sister to say that there had been a big truck accident on the Prices Fwy that morning and that the driver that died was a long time family friend of ours, Woody. I've known Woody since I was about 12 or so (over half my life), he was like an older brother and before getting back in contact with my Dad, if I was ever to get married I was going to ask him to give me away as he was the one constant male in my life that meant something to me.
The truck he was driving hit the back of a truck that was parked in the emergency lane of the Princes Fwy where he had stopped to have a rest. They suspect he fell asleep at the wheel I've heard that an eye witness said that they saw the truck veering off the road and that there were no skid marks from breaking. Footage of the cab of the truck is evidently pretty horrific in that there is not much of it left. He died before emergency services got to the scene. Thankfully I haven't seen the footage, I really don't want to see it when I know the person that had been in there.
The funeral is going to be on Tuesday. The same day that I get the keys to my beautiful new house - what a messed up day that's going to be. Thankfully I am not moving in until Wednesday.
Stephen Woodhouse leaves behind wife Tanya and sons Trent and Hayden. Gone far too early and impacted so many lives in so many ways. You will be missed!

A good routine
Now that my house is practically finished, it's time to get into a good routine again of walking each night after work. I went for a walk both days over the weekend and plan to do so again tonight although that will also depend on how much I get stuck into the packing as I need to do a bit of packing each night as well.
I'm actually really looking forward to getting into a good and healthy routine again, it's been far too long since I was and I do actually miss it.
As I mentioned my house is practically finished. My inspection is tomorrow and I get the keys to my very own house in 8 sleeps time! Wow! It's unreal! I'm also really looking forward to a few days off work, although they wont be terribly relaxing, but just not being in the office will be nice.

The time is right
Yesterday and today has been nice weather, well if you remove the wind from yesterday and the rain from this morning, it's been a couple of nice days (read: warmer) and you know what it makes me crave and makes me miss? Riding my bike! I'm really looking forward to moving house and getting fit and getting back on my bikes :D It will take quite some time to get to a healthy weight again, but I am looking forward to getting back there :)

And it happens again this year...
I just got the inevitable phone call 'We were thinking of combining your birthday this year with (insert Dad or nieces) birthday as we thought it would be easier for you seeing you are moving etc. Well no it wouldn't be easier for me actually. Just because I am moving house 3 weeks before hand does not mean I don't want to go out for dinner on my own birthday! It makes it easier for YOU! So No! I'm sick of it! My immediate family didn't come to my 30th as it wasn't convenient and other birthdays seem to always blend in with My Dad's on the 11th or my Nieces on the 28th and I am sick of doing that just to make it easier on everyone else!
