Active is good

Even though I didn't really have much of a weekend, I am feeling a lot better today than I did this time last week. Maybe it's because I feel tired due to actually doing something useful, I dunno... ask me again tomorrow ;)

Metro track champs

It's Sunday night and I've spent my entire weekend Commissairing, judging and time keeping at the Victorian Metropolitan Track Championships! Yesterday was Time Trials and Sprints and today was Pursuits and Scratch races.
Yesterday was an interesting day for me, I was in the back straight doing timing and the guy who was the main commissaire for the back straight was a bit lost with what he should be doing to say the least. I soon discovered it was his first time commissairing a track event of any kind and it kind of showed, but in events like this we are a team and we all work together and help each other. I got him calmed down and got everything organised and sorted and he was very thankful! Today he told me that if I hadn't been there working within him yesterday and today he would have been totally lost, he was thankful and that made me feel good. It also made me realise just how much I do know and that I should put my hand up for other roles as well as time keeping and judging, but it's difficult sometimes when you are a bit unsure, well this weekend helped me to become a lot more sure of my ability, skills and knowledge as a Commissaire :D

Bring on the Victorian State Champs!!

It's been so long, I feel lost

This is going to sound a bit strange but... I don't know what to cook for people if they come over for a meal. Yeah, I know that sounds odd, especially considering the amount of cooking I do, but I'm seriously unsure. Do you go fancy, do you go meat and veg, do you do just normal everyday food?? Is spag bol a crap idea? What about spaghetti and meatballs and then if I do something like that should I then provide a salad or something else too? Pasta is normally a good safe meal to cook. If I have the time then I can always do a roast, but the pressure of getting it cooked just right when it's for other people could be a lot.

I generally eat pretty basic foods and if I have pasta then it's only the pasta dish and nothing on the side. A lot of the time I just eat pan fried meat and 4-5 veg.

I tried working out this morning when the last time I cooked a meal that was for more than just me and I honestly don't know when it was.... I'm talking many years.

Once I get the BBQ out that will make things lots easier, but yeah I was just thinking that if I invite family over for some dinner - what do I actually cook for them?

Blood test results

I just got my blood test results! Kidney, iron, sugar, B12, Folate etc are all OK and I don't have diabetes which is nice.

Cholesterol is at 5.6 and they prefer it to be below 5.5 so it's only marginally high but I have heaps of good cholesterol which is great.

Liver function was mostly OK, there was small thing on that was a bit NQR but she said that could be caused by a bit too much alcohol if I have been drinking a bit more than I should be - umm yes, house building is stressful! Cutting things back now that Cup day has been and gone.

So everything is pretty much OK and with increasing my exercise and general healthy living it should all be fine -relief-

Thank you Peter!

I would like to re-assure everyone that there are good people in the world still and one of them is Peter from Kinglake, a nice gentleman who helped me this afternoon.
I got a flat tyre today and tried to change it on my own as I do know how to do it, however that's not much good when the lugs are on soooooooooo bloody tight that you can't get them undone, especially with the flimsy tool in the jack kit. So I called road side assist and they said it could be about 90 minutes - awesome...

As I was sitting there waiting, after trying again many times Peter pulled up and helped. He had driven past me and about 1km up the road had the feeling that I needed help and so did a u-turn to help me! ::smile::

He got his socket set out of his car and his own jack (a lot bigger than mine!) and even he struggled to get the lugs undone, even with jumping his whole body weight on the lever! He said he used to be a tyre technician years ago and he has NEVER seem lugs done up that tightly which made me feel a lot better!

So yes, there are good people still willing to help a stranger! :D

Now I need a new tyre as it's cactus :(

I need to change

More often than not I get a pretty good nights sleep and yet I always have this can't be bothered feeling and it's starting to annoy me. There is so much to do around my place (like unpack boxes) but I just can't be bothered. On weekends I think it's due to a few drinkies the night before so maybe I need to cut that down a bit and during the week maybe it's due to not eating enough vegies and not walking regularly enough. I started walking again during the week but then working 10+hr days it doesn't leave me in the mood to walk, even though I would probably benefit a great deal from it!
