The weekends are just far too short! Especially when you spend the main part of a day volunteering. Yesterday my cycling club held it's annual track cycling event at the indoor velodrome at DISC (Darebin International Sports Complex). It's indoors but is essentially a giant tin shed, so you can imagine that on a 36C degree day it gets damn hot in there!! I reckon I sweated out around 10kg's of liquid and after being there for over 8hrs I was knackered! I love doing it, but it is quite exhausting being a commissaire as you have to be constantly paying attention to what's going on for the entire time!
Today it's forecasted to be 37 so I'm keeping myself indoors!

I'll show you!
I went to open a bottle of champagne before and it wouldn't open! It was one of those ones where the cork would spin but not grip and the cork wouldn't budge! I had also cut my thumb the other night and it was sore so I couldn't get a really good grip.... so I got inventive!
I got out a really big, sharp knife and cut the top off! Then I used a corkscrew and huzzah!

Getting it organised
Today I finally got around to setting up my home email correctly, ie not forwarding one account to another but having Entourage check two accounts instead of just one... it's only taken me a few years to do that. haha
I also sorted out my work and personal calendars. It involved copying my work one to my personal account, setting up a new gmail account just to sync my work one too and then adding the work gmail one to my personal one and deleting the personal stuff from work and vice versa. This way I can have my iPhone sync with my personal account and be able to turn my work one on and off and all my personal calendar stuff like birthdays and bill payment reminders etc etc aren't all on my work one. I'm sure that sounds a bit complicated but it's all a rather smooth and easy process.
Google so owns me

Exercise that is but isn't
Today I told myself that I would go for a walk tonight! When I got home though the wind had picked up a fair bit and dust was flying everywhere - not really that enjoyable to walk in :( So instead I got out the Wii Fit and did some workouts on that! I really enjoyed it too! I still haven't done all the routines, but I love how they make it all into a game and make it fun to do in a way that you don't realise you are exercising until you have to wipe the sweat off your forehead, it's great! It's the main reason I purchased one really, to do incidental and fun exercise :) Afterall, playing some Wii tennis or something has to be more beneficial than just watching TV on your bum!
What I don't like about the Wii Fit though is that depending on your BMI the shape of your Wii Mii changes hehe - ahh well I'm working on it!!

A positive step
Towards the end of last year I was having a drink most days of the week. It wouldn't always be a lot, maybe only 2 glasses of wine, but I was still doing it. Well part of the changes that I am making for this year is to cut right back on that. Today, being Australia Day, would have been an awesome day to have several drinks while sitting back watching the tennis and the cricket but I didn't because I have to go to work tomorrow (urgh!). I did have one beer, you've got to on Australia Day, but only the one.
It's a good positive step for me as it would have been very easy to open a bottle of wine.
There is a quote that someone on a forum I frequent had in their signature along the lines of "People don't achieve their goals as they trade what they most want with what they want right now" so true.

Happy Australia Day!
Today is Australia Day! The day that whiteman first stepped onto this great wide land. Some call it the anniversary of the death of the land and in some parts I agree, but I also think that I am very fortunate to have been born here, to live so freely here and to have such a wonderful environment!
I could easily go on a rant right now about all those that either move here or are born here who don't respect and appreciate what they have here, but I wont as today is meant to be a good happy day!
Today is the day that Slammin' Sam Kekovich has helped turn into national eat lamb day although I wont be eating any lamb, my butcher didn't have any left! They told me that they ordered in 70 lambs for yesterday and by 4:30pm they were all gone! Sure, he could have ordered more but they don't have enough butchers to cut it all up! I will however be having a bbq though while I enjoy some cricket and don't forget the tennis (hehe Telstra advert)

Back to the grind
Today I headed back to work -sigh- but after the last two weeks off and the changes I've made and implemented I actually felt good! Dealing with my boss was also civil and about the new project I had to start working on and nothing else was spoken about! After having two weeks off, you'd think that if he was going to then he would have organised it already? Bah who knows really, he isn't great at people skills.
The great thing though was that driving home from work I caught myself smiling! Yes, me, smiling for no good reason! I'm loving feeling better about being in this world, long overdue but at least I am working on it and working on having more FUN!
Today was also the first day of my 11th year at the "same" company. Yes, that's right, I've been there over 10 years now.

Tuesday's To Do List
Yesterday's to do list involved cleaning some terracotta pots that I was given, sealing them and then re-potting the chilli plants that I was also given!
Here is what I posted on my house blog (http://chateaulisa.blogspot.com/)
So first of all I had to clean the terracotta pots as I was originally going to paint them (not so sure now) but first they need to be sealed! I also had to go buy more potting mix as the pots I decided to use were a lot bigger than the black pots I had planned to use, but at least these pots mean that the plants can stay in them a lot longer, if not forever.
After getting back from the big green hardware box, I had the sealer required and painted up all the pots and then left them to dry for a few hours. I used this time to finally assemble the wheelbarrow that my sister bought me for Christmas - too many bolts, urgh! I then replanted all the plants and watered them well with some seasol!
Here are the pictures:

The chilli plants in need of bigger pots

Shiny! Just after being sealed

The first chilli plant re-potted and a lady bird appears, awesome!

All 7 plants

Bottom to top - Thai Chilli (my original plant), Hungarian Hot Wax and African Bird

Left to right Naga Morich, Corno di torro ross, Golden cayenne and Red Savina (Worlds Hottest Habanero Pepper according to Guinness book of world records!)

I assemble this wheelbarrow today, it was a christmas present from my sister

shopping
Today didn't have a to do list as such, but a shopping list and that shopping list was to include nicer clothing to wear to work and just in general! The decision was made that I need to start dealing with the now and not waiting for the future so it was off to the shops. Two major shopping centres and 6hrs later I came home with 4 new tops, 2 new long length cardy's, 2 new pairs of shoes and a new wallet and I was exhausted! I also got my sisters birthday present. I really hate clothes shopping but it had to be done and done it is!

All done
I'm happy to report that I did everything on my list today! It took several hours to get it all done, but I felt good having done it and I'm happy that the place has been tidied up.
Oh, but not everything got ticked off, my table didn't get delivered :( When they were loading it in the truck to deliver it they realised that they wrong colour had been ordered :(

Let's write a list
I have quite a lot of stuff that needs doing around my home, like finish unpacking and I am going to get started on all these tasks today. while today might not involve any unpacking, it will involve in tidying things up and giving things home that just seem to be laying about the place - things that are unpacked but haven't been put away as such. To help achieve this, I've decided that I need to write myself a to do list most days of what I want to get done that day and make sure that I do get it all done.
Today's list is
Today's list is
- Empty the dishwasher
- Clean the kitchen benches and put everything away
- Wipe down the outside of the cupboards, oven, fridge etc
- Dust the loungeroom
- Clean the bathrooms
- Vacuum the floors
- Mop the floors
- Wash my bed linen
- Enjoy my new kitchen table when it gets delivered tonight :)
- Put the bins out cos it's bin night (yeah that will get done anyway, but why not make it something I can tick off :D)

First step to the long path
I've been really quiet lately which is unlike me. For a few months really, things just haven't been right, lots on my mind and things haven't been well in my patch.
I've taken a big first step today to fix it though, there is a long path ahead of me, but I have at least now begun.
